KARIBANI our name is derived from the Swahili phrase KARIbu
nyumBANI which means ‘Welcome Home .
We have created a unique platform to connect you with HOME wherever you are in the world. With our stories and LIVE language classes, you and your children will immerse in rich African culture represented by various languages and traditions.

We aim to start weekly online interactive Yoruba classes by June 2022. We hope to add more languages as we progress. This initial class will run weekly for 3 months. African language For Children
With over 5 songs and phrases in a local African language, your children will pick up the words quickly. The first set of toys will be in three different languages Yoruba, Swahili and Igbo. We are however working hard to add more languages.
Karibani toys will sing songs you grew up listening to. They will not only be entertained but also educated in your mother tongue! They will learn songs like 'ojo nro sere ninu ile, ma wonu ojo' (Yoruba) or 'Bata madogo dogo' (Swahili).

We are thrilled to announce that The Alafia Language Project (ALP) has received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund! This incredible support will empower us to deliver our language revitalization programs over the next 14 months, focusing on teaching African Languages to children from disadvantaged communities in the LLR region.
🌍 What is the Alafia Language Project?
ALP is a transformative initiative aimed at preserving and promoting African indigenous languages. We will work with children to build cultural pride, improve literacy skills, and strengthen community ties through:
✅ Interactive Language Workshops
✅ Cultural Events & Celebrations
✅ Mentorship Programs pairing children with elders
✅ Family Involvement to encourage intergenerational learning
This project is more than just language learning — it’s about fostering identity, connecting communities, and celebrating culture. With the National Lottery’s support, we are one step closer to revitalizing these vital languages for future generations.
