4th May 2026 | Karibani Limited
On Bank Holiday Monday, 4th May 2026, something special happened at Beacon Hill Country Park in Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire. Thirty-three people — 16 adults and 17 children — came together for the very first session of our Steps, Stories & Strength intergenerational community movement programme. And despite a few showers along the way, not a single person let the rain dampen their spirit.
A Morning to Remember
The day began with energy and laughter. Some participants drove themselves to the Lower Car Park at Beacon Hill, whilst others joined our minivan from Loughborough town centre. This practical touch ensured nobody was left behind before we had even taken our first step.
Once gathered, we warmed up with a guided stretch session led by the wonderful Sam, who set the tone perfectly — inclusive, encouraging, and fun for every age in the group. From toddlers to grandparents, everyone moved together.
Then we walked.

3 Miles, 13,000 Steps, and Countless Memories
Our circular route took us through the stunning landscape of Beacon Hill Country Park, starting and finishing at the Lower Car Park. In total we covered approximately 3 miles (5 kilometres), clocked over 13,000 steps, and spent more than two hours moving through fresh air and beautiful Leicestershire countryside.
What struck us most was not the distance covered, but the conversations happening along the way. Adults and children walking side by side. Families reconnecting. Laughter echoing through the trees. This is exactly what Steps, Stories & Strength was designed to create.
Food, Community, and a Moment to Breathe
After the walk, we gathered together for healthy snacks, fresh fruits, and drinks — a moment to sit down, reflect, and celebrate what we had just accomplished together. We did not leave Beacon Hill until around 2:30pm, which tells you everything about how comfortable and connected everyone felt.
Why This Matters
At Karibani, we believe that physical activity is most sustainable when it is social, culturally affirming, and family-based. Too often, formal fitness environments feel inaccessible or uninviting for families from culturally diverse communities. Steps, Stories & Strength was designed to change that — to show that a walk in the park can be a powerful act of community wellbeing.
This was Session 1 of 3. We are just getting started.

Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to our partners FitFab Ladies for co-delivering this session with such warmth, energy, and community spirit. Sessions 2 and 3 are coming up in late May and June 2026. We would love to see you there.
