Thanks to sponsorship from the National Lottery, Karibani is proud to launch a free 4-week online Yoruba Language & Culture Programme for children aged 9-12 living in the Leicestershire, Leicester, and Rutland (LLR) region. This initiative is designed to introduce young learners to the fundamentals of the Yoruba language and culture, fostering a sense of heritage and cultural pride among participants.
Programme Highlights:
- Duration: 4 weeks, with 45-minute interactive sessions each week.
- Curriculum Focus: Basics of the Yoruba language, including greetings, parts of the body, and everyday phrases.
- Small Cohorts: Each cohort will have a maximum of 5 children, ensuring personalized learning.
- State-of-the-Art Platform: Participants will have access to Karibani’s innovative learning platform to view and re-watch previous classes, supporting continued learning at home.
- Qualified Instructors: Teachers are vetted and trained to provide high-quality, engaging, and culturally sensitive education.
Purpose:
This programme seeks to promote cultural education and connection within the African diaspora community while equipping children with foundational language skills in Yoruba. It aligns with Karibani’s mission to empower the next generation by preserving and celebrating African culture and languages.
How It Works:
Parents are required to register their children for the programme. Following registration, an approval process will be conducted, and successful applicants will receive further instructions via email.
We aim to work with stakeholders who share our vision of cultural preservation and community empowerment to make this initiative a success. For further collaboration or support, please contact us at info@karibani.org.
